Reviews Overview

Most Liked

Patrons rave about the enormous portions—especially the chips, often exceeding expectations without a hefty price tag. The fish is another highlight; patrons consistently praise its perfect balance of crispy batter on the outside while staying tender inside. The option to customize meals with delectable pickles also charms diners, enhancing the traditional fish and chips experience. Friendly and accommodating staff elevate the dining experience, making for a warm and welcoming environment. Visitors appreciate the casual setting that's perfect for a quick meal while soaking in the local vibe.

Most Disliked

Some guests mention the lack of seating for groups, making it challenging to enjoy a meal with friends in-house. This limitation may deter those looking to make a social outing out of their meal. Additionally, while Ossies guarantees a great fish and chips experience, there have been whispers about occasional wait times during peak hours that detract from enjoying a quick bite. A few patrons point out that while prices are reasonable, the space can become cramped, especially when busy, which might make it less appealing for a relaxed sit-down meal. Lastly, some diners might find the lack of extensive menu options outside of fish and chips to be a drawback.

Enormous pickled onions, a hefty tub of gorgeous gravy, gravy youd be proud to serve with a Sunday roast and lovely chips. Well worth a visit if you fancy something quick and hot to fill your belly!

Absolutely delicious fish and chips! The fish was perfectly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, and the chips were fresh and golden. Great portions, friendly service, and a cozy atmosphere. Highly recommended! There is no place for sitting with your many friends. It was cheap and yummy per person 8.5pound. Teşekkürler kola için 😌

Very tasty, super friendly staff. The largest portion of chips I've ever seen, and yet they only charged for a medium portion. The fish was very crispy and perfect. Definitely recommend it.

It’s everyones most loved dishe, and quite possibly the greatest coupling of all time. But it’s also one of the hardest to get right. As such, Canterbury'’s finest fried fish is lost in an ocean of greasy mediocrity, and its chips in a sea of sogginess. But like pearls in oysters, a good chippy does appear once in a while — one where the fish is always fresh, the batter crunchy and the chips fluffy. Ossies provides high quality and reliable freshness of fish. But while it’s the fat, flaky fillets of moist cod encased in crunchy and chewy batter that earn Ossie the best in Canterbury. From its beach shack interior to the chirpy, chatty service it has the whole deal. You also need to try their range of pickles — choose from eggs, shallots or red onion rings.

The best fish and chips in Canterbury, cooked to order by friendly lads. Get the cod and haddock and medium chips, add a splash of malt vinegar and salt. Excellent 👌👍
